  16. I've been able to user serial cables of ridiculous lenths (certainly 30m)
  17. working with PCs in our lab with no problems, and that was with various
  18. gender changers, crossover boxes and the like. I was told by a technician
  19. that the RS-232 spec allows for a wire length of up to 100 feet, but in
  20. practice one can make them much longer.
